Yahoo is giving Yahoo Mail on desktop a significant update with new AI features and other improvements to make email and task management simpler.
One of the amazing feature is AI generated summaries of your emails. Which provide concise bullet points that highlighting your proposed tasks and other actions. These summaries are found under the new Priority inbox tab, which, similar to Gmail’s version, uses AI to spotlight what Yahoo considers your most important messages. Gmail recently introduced a similar summaries feature for its mobile app, but it’s behind a paywall for Workspace and Google One AI Premium subscribers.
In addition to Artificial intelligence summaries, Yahoo is enhancing quick access and action capabilities for emails. Quick action buttons now appear directly in the inbox, allowing users to easily add events to their calendar, check in for flights, and track packages. A new persistent “starred view” panel lets users quickly see and access their most important tasks or other items they want to revisit.
Another new feature lets Yahoo Mail users link their inbox to other any email accounts, if have, including Gmail, Outlook etc. By enabling them you can send and receive all their emails just from your Yahoo Mail.
“People are looking for better ways to streamline daily activities like managing multiple email accounts, sorting out schedules, reading long messages, and tracking orders. The new features we’re launching are aimed at making life easier for anyone who relies on email,” said Mr. Kyle Miller, Yahoo Mail’s VP of Product.
These features will be available to new users in the US and will roll out to existing US users on an opt-in basis starting today. They will also be added to Yahoo Mail’s mobile app in the future.
Actually ,this is not only Yahoo Mail’s first venture into AI. In last summer, Yahoo Mail introduced several generative AI capabilities, including an powerfull search mode, the Shopping Save feature for finding forgotten gift cards and discount coupons, and a writing assistant to help users compose emails with the right tone.
