Apple has recently released a beta version of iOS 18.2, bringing some advanced Apple Intelligence features, but the main highlight is the integration of ChatGPT. Very soon, iPhone users may be able to use ChatGPT without a separate app, sparking privacy concerns for many. Since ChatGPT is a third-party tool, some worry it could compromise user privacy within the Apple ecosystem. However, Apple assures that they have thoroughly considered this move, and users will have full control over ChatGPT’s availability on their devices.
Regarding privacy, Apple states that iPhone users can access ChatGPT for free without creating a new account, though registered ChatGPT users will get early access to new updates. ChatGPT will collect minimal data, only gathering information where absolutely necessary, and always with user permission.
Apple adds that with ChatGPT integration, Apple's Siri will deliver more accurate and relevant answers. This tool will also help with writing tasks like drafting texts, emails and messages. While ChatGPT will collect very little data in Siri, writing tools, and visual intelligence services, it may gather slightly more during dictation.
